Suggested next steps
- Share the converted local times with each participant rather than a single “your time” assumption.
- Trim the target list to the cities that actually need the invite.
- Double-check daylight saving: offsets change seasonally even when zone names stay the same.
How the time zone conversion works
A time zone converter maps one local (wall-clock) time in City A to the same absolute instant in City B.
- Take your source date, time, and IANA zone (for example,
America/New_York). - Resolve that local time to a single UTC instant, applying the correct offset (including DST) for that date.
- Format that instant in each destination zone with local date, time, and abbreviation.
This site uses your browser’s built-in internationalization APIs — no paid timezone API. Results update as you change inputs. Rule-based tips estimate how wide the offset span is so you know whether overlap hours will be tight.
Worked example
You schedule a call for 4 August 2026 at 10:00 AM in US Eastern (New York).
- In UK (London) that is typically afternoon the same day (BST or GMT depending on the season’s rules for that date).
- In UAE (Dubai) it is evening the same day.
- In Japan (Tokyo) it may already be late evening or the next calendar morning.
Use the converter’s multi-city checklist to put all three on one screen before you send the invite.
Methodology and notes
Zone labels are a curated set of major cities for readability. Offsets are computed for the exact date entered. Always confirm critical travel connections with the airline or calendar invite, especially around DST transition weekends when some local times are skipped or repeated.
Frequently asked questions
You enter a wall-clock date and time in a source time zone. The tool converts that moment to each selected destination zone using the IANA time zone database via your browser’s Intl APIs, including daylight saving rules for that date.
