How the GPA calculation works

GPA (grade point average) is a credit-weighted average of grade points:

  1. Convert each letter grade to points on the 4.0 scale.
  2. Quality points for a course = grade points × credit hours.
  3. Semester GPA = sum of quality points ÷ sum of credit hours.

How is GPA calculated from letter grades?
